Yashasvi Jaiswal surpasses Virat Kohli for most runs in a Test series against England
NEW DELHI: Young India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal on Thursday surpassed talismanic Virat Kohli and other Indian batting greats to register most runs against England in a Test series.
Jaiswal achieved the feat on the opening day of the fifth and final Test against England in Dharamsala.
In the final session on the opening day, Jaiswal went past Kohli, who had previously scored 655 runs in the 2016 Test series at home — previous best for India against England.
Current India coach Rahul Dravid is third on the list. Dravid scored 602 runs during the 2002 India tour of England.
With 593 runs, Kohli once again finds himself in the list. Kohli run fest came during the 2018 tour of England which India lost 4-1.
Batting great Sunil Gavaskar, during the 1979 tour, amassed 542 runs while Vijay Manjrekar has 586 runs to his name in a single Test series against England.
