“Shaitaan” a film directed by Vikas Bahl featuring Ajay Devgn, Jyotika, and R Madhavan in the lead roles, was released in theatres on a Friday and performed well on the first day.

As per the report, Shaitaan earned around 14.50 crore nett in India on its first day for all languages. The film had an overall 25.70% Hindi occupancy on Friday.

Internet reacted to the film, taking to X, a user wrote, “A powerful edge-of-the-seat thriller with outstanding performances by Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan. The film drags you in its stride. Go & Watch the Film before you miss out this cinematic horror masterpiece.”

“Just watched here in Sweden with full packed hall and even with lots of swedish! What a terrific movie wah, I actually don’t have proper words to express my feelings, how wonderfully each & everyone acted, what a brilliant movie, love love & only love,” a user Marufa Niger wrote.

Tense and gripping moments few and far in between. Climax disappointing,” another wrote.

As reported by  sharing how he decided to helm the film, Vikas said, “I don’t really watch supernatural thrillers or horror movies, so my knowledge of that genre as a viewer is very little. But when I heard the story of Shaitaan, I totally loved it, and I felt that this story really had to be told. At the same time, it was so challenging for me to tell a story in a genre that I am a novice in. So, I thought, let me take up this challenge and see where it goes. And I must say, it’s been a great experience working on Shaitaan and creating it.”

Shaitaan’ is one film that does not deserve to be ignored — or, more pressingly, remembered as just another Bollywood flick. Rehna Hai Tere Dil Main’s chocolate boy (R Madhavan) has gone all rogue and psycho in ‘Shaitaan’. Just like many bland films of the past, the movie tweaks the classic melodramatic theme of someone idiotic who wants to rule the world. That position is taken up by R Madhavan who becomes maliciously sinful, and the target of his rage is Kabir’s (Ajay Devgn) teenage daughter Janhvi (Janki Bodiwala).

Bringing the farce of life to the screen, the movie begins with an overtly happy family who are laughing beyond measure, playfully stealing each other’s food and setting up flowers. Everything is so colorful and bright that it has to tone down to reality. Little did we know, it’ll take a 360-degree dark turn where a stranger will topple their life upside down with black magic. So commences a tale, laced with decent sound, drama, and twists, of a family trying to save their daughter from the shackles of the venomous oppressor. After establishing the premise in the first half, the plot thickens after the interval and writers have crafted hidden surprises to keep you wide-eyed.

R Madhavan’s fine acting and psychologically gripping portrayal leave an impact. Although the soul prefers the ace actor as a lover, the actor’s gotta act! His grotesque imagery piques interest and he looks his surreal best. (..and the salt-and-pepper bearded look is plain gorgeous)

Shaitaan blows right past the so-bad-it’s-good classification. It deserves appreciation. In simple terms, it is enjoyable, but its appeal is tailored to a particular style of entertainment that may require some adjustment for those unfamiliar with it.

At 54, Ajay Devgn is basking in the peak of his career, with over three decades of successful ventures in the film industry. Set to feature in Vikas Bahl’s upcoming horror thriller, “Shaitaan,” alongside R Madhavan, Jyotika, and Janki Bodiwala, Devgn portrays a middle-aged man whose life takes an ominous turn when a mysterious intruder enters his home, putting his teenage daughter under a hypnotic spell. The ensuing narrative weaves a gripping tale of the battle between good and evil.

R Madhavan, taking on the role of the main antagonist in this spine-chilling drama, earned a substantial Rs 10 crore for his performance. Now, let’s delve into the remuneration details for Janki Bodiwala, Jyotika, and Ajay Devgn in the film.
